Vandring_Culture House Italo Calvino, Calderara di Reno 2021

Vandring is a collective artwork made during 5 days. More than one hundred people have taken part in its realisation. The participants (children, teenagers, adults and fellow artists) had at their disposal the same tools as me. My role has an artist wasn't to show my work to a passive public, but to mediate, facilitate and merge the interventions of an active public.

In itinere

Remix

404 days of rain

Reidun Haugnes

God of the high places

Portioli gjekk i fjella i Aurland i ti dagar. Resultatet viser på utstillinga.                        Styret i Galleri Vinjum

Act of Faith

Curatorial text by Riccardo Freddi

Exhibition curated by MAGAZZINI criminali

Kunsthallen, Bergen, Norway

Every April the final year Master in Fine Art students at the Bergen Academy of Arts organise an exhibition of their work at Bergen Kunsthall. It's an important collaboration between the two institutions and an opportunity for the graduating students to present their work to a broad and international public.

However, while this show puts forward the result of each student’s independent practice, it also activates a series of situations where they act as a collective and in dialogue with the local community. This year, the exploration of collectivity has gone beyond the organisation of a simple “parallel programme”. In some ways, the devising of strategies to re-articulate and revisit this gathering of artworks and practices is what this exhibition actually is.

As you enter Bergen Kunsthall you are immediately confronted with an information centre where a myriad of activities are posted. Some are guided tours led by local professionals from fields other than visual arts, like a poet, a neurologist, and an archivist. Others announce instances where audiences will be escorted to rarely seen areas of the building where a number of the artists have made interventions. Some of the events will invite the audience to hands-on workshops and dinners, others will happen spontaneously and by chance, for whoever happens to be in the building at the time.

The engagement with Bergen Kunsthall as an architecture and a territory is another way in which the students have approached this show. From the specific interventions and navigation that is suggested through the space, to the apparition of the building’s remnants and details in artworks, as well as the appearance of the building’s own history, these artists have assumed Bergen Kunsthall as an active material in their work. It is a material that exists physically, but it is also a manifestation of what this building means to the city of Bergen and, especially, what the opportunity of inhabiting it for these three weeks means to the students.

So this opportunity is not just about being inside Bergen Kunsthall. The artists in this exhibition are aware that they are standing at the intersection of an academy, a professional art space and a local community, and they are here with a curiosity that is almost violent. It is precisely this flirtation with borders that dissolve and recompose that makes this show so dynamic and exciting. As the experiences of this exhibition accumulate, a particular kind of place will emerge: a landscape where questions are staged; a site of turbulence; a monster with 23 heads, each with a letter, each with a name. Welcome to MEAGHEASKKLLrKGMMAHTNCA.

Cold Current

Cold Current is an international exhibition project, presenting the works of a group of innovative and interesting professional artists from Norway based in Bergen, in the exhibition spaces of four art institutions in Reggio Emilia in Italy. These artists represent a high level of new, intrepid Norwegian contemporary art, and they work within a variety of different media. We are looking forward to introduce the Italian public to the wide spectrum of artistic expressions that exist within this exciting art scene. The Cold Current project has its basis in a strong wish to show this contemporary art treasure chest to a public that is largely unaware of this Norwegian energy surplus, and at the same time building a bridge between the art environments in these two cultural very active European cities. We are not just bringing the artworks to Italy, we are also bringing the artists themselves, and thereby creating an opportunity for interaction and a meeting place for cultural exchange.

Hardbakka Ruins

Hardbakka Ruins Project 2013 is a site-specific art workshop/exhibition taking a place around the ruins area of Hrdbakka that places by the side of Svartediket Bergen in July 2013. It is a good opportunity to use this inspiring place as a platform for artistic activities.

Migration

Migration

What is the meaning behind the myth of the Spartoi and their descendants Pentheus and Dionysos?
What is the connection between the feral Australian cats and the extinction of several marsupial and placental mammal species?
In which way does the stochastic variation influence small communities?
What has changed after 2008? Facing a Europe that at the first moment of difficulties has seen a significant increase in the number of national parties against the European Union itself. Most of them with a clear xenophobic attitude.
What is the value of the immigrants in a society potentially closed? What kind of influence has the migration in a broader global scale, looking at a world that has never been so small, ruled by a "solid" principle of "economical” communicating vessels and enclosed and accelerated by a "web" that, paradoxically, extends its material boundaries and stretch them to a spiritual unifying pangea?

The project Migration aims to reflect and "objectify" the legacy of modern migration. To define and emphasize a phenomenon in its becoming, but with immediate visible and tangible results.
In the course of time the modern migrations will define clearly the history of an age.
Thanks to the collaboration with the Spazio espositivo Adiacenze of Bologna and the Galleria Moitre of Turin the group of four artists who met in Bergen, Norway, consisting of Helene Forde, Hidemi Nishida, Manuel Portioli and Alexander Raevski will broaden to three new artists Anna Ippolito, Marzio Zorio and Fabio Romano. Anna and Marzio Moitre selected from the Galleria Moitre and Fabio by Spazio espositivo Adiacenze.
Migration is also the first project of international collaboration of Bee-live, created in order to foster a fruitful exchange among the group of Reggio Emilia based artists, the local art scene and the group of “migrating” artists that will animate the Officina delle Arti during the "Migration" exhibition.
